Mind and Disposition.

Ill-humor with inclination to anger and impetuosity.

Great forgetfulness.

Head.

Tension from the vertex to the upper jaw as if the head were expanded from within, and as if the scalp were too tight, worse in the evening when lying low with the head, slowly increasing and decreasing, better from heat.

Stitches in the head.

[5] Burning in the forehead.

Chilliness over the scalp and upper part of the back, worse in the evening, at night, and in the cold air.

Tension on the head (externally and internally), worse in the evening, and from cold, better from warmth, especially in the heat of the sun.

Sensation of heat of the head and face, with red face, anxiety, and sleepiness.

Eyes.

Burning in the eyes.

[10] Pressing pain on the upper surface of the eyes.

Pressing in the eyes after rubbing them, which causes one to see red and blue margins.

Green spots before the eyes in the dark.

Luminous vibrations before the eyes.

Nose.

Dark, bloody scabs are blown from the nose.

Face.

[15] Face red, burning hot.

Tearing pain in the malar bone, cheeks, and lower jaw.

Violent boring pain in the (right) malar bone.

Mouth and Throat.

Sensation in the teeth as if screwed together.

Violent tearing in the teeth after previously increased saliva in the mouth.

[20] Sensation of numbness in the mouth (early on waking).

Heat emanating from the mouth and nose, with thirst.

The fauces are inflamed and painful (stinging) during deglutition.

Stomach and Abdomen.

Hunger soon after dinner.

Violent thirst, especially for beer.

[25] Taste in the mouth like earth.

Nausea, with burning heat in the face.

Pressure in the stomach, relieved by eating.

Colic with diarrhoea and chilliness.

Stool and Anus.

Stool retarded, compact and in large lumps ; is expelled with great effort and violent pain in the anus.

[30] After stool, contractive sensation in the rectum ; burning at the anus.

Diarrhoea of yellow water.

Urinary Organs.

Urine pale, strongly smelling of ammonium.

Sexual Organs.

Women. Menstruation retarded, the discharge being serous at first, later clots of blood are passed.

Menses too early and of too short a duration.

Respiratory Organs.

[35] Violent dry cough from irritation in the larynx at night.

Dyspnoea, with hot, red face while walking.

Back.

Sensations as if bruised in the back and sacrum, worse from stooping and when touched.

Sleep.

When going to sleep twitching and starting.

Generalities.

Rheumatic pains, especially in the joints, worse in the evening and at night in bed.

[40] Great emaciation.

Immovability of the limbs (on one, the right, side of the body) like paralysis, in the evening.

Most of the symptoms can hardly be determined as to locality, but seem to be in the marrow of the bones.

One side of the body is generally only affected (right side).

Fever.

Pulse full and hard, with violent pulsation in the arteries.

[45] Chill in the forenoon, descending from the sacrum to the posterior part of the thighs.

Chilliness from the head over the shoulder-blades.

Dry heat at night with thirst.

Heat which seems to stream from the mouth and nostrils.

Perspiration during the morning hours.

[50] Perspiration at night, mostly on the affected parts, with increased pain when uncovering them.

Skin.

Tension of the skin on various parts in the evening in bed.

Itching which grows worse from scratching.

Conditions.

The rheumatic pains are worse in the evening and at night.

Trembling sensation in the body, and debility worse in the evening (and morning).

[55] The pains and ailments increase gradually and decrease in the same manner.

When the pains cease, the itching begins, and vice versa.

Aggravation ; in the evening and at night ; from cold ; from denudation ; from water and washing.

Amelioration ; in the open air, especially in the heat of the sun ; from warmth in general.
